Jameed is fermented sun-dried goat's yogurt balls.
Everyone loves the Jordanian Mansaf and Jameed is the main ingredient for cooking this delicious meal. More often than not, what we get in the market here is a make do replica of the real deal, and so we are bringing you the original Jameed balls that are made in Al Karak (the city in the south of Jordan known for producing the best quality Jameed).
In Jordanian Cuisine, Jameed is also used in cooking green fava bean stew, cauliflower stew and for making stuffed Kusa in Yogurt. Try using it that way you will love it.
These Jameed balls are artisanal, made by the Bedouin ladies of the south and are vacuum sealed to keep the quality of the Jameed in top condition. Because this Jameed is artisanal, sometimes it is shaped as a cone, and other times as a ball, depending the available maker that year.
Sold by ball, vacuum packed in freezer safe bags.
